The Man, The Myth, The Bad Influence

Born in Tasmania and raised by a pack of wild dingoes (so the legend goes), Kim "Chunky" Gent has lived a colourful and adventurous life.

The years have seen him travel the country working sideshow alleys, driving road trains and playing rugby, not to mention stealing hearts and propping up local bars.

He found his passion for woodwork in the Goldfields over 20 years ago and has called Kalgoorlie Boulder home ever since. 

His craft is a celebration and appreciation of the great western woodlands, with each creation expertly made to fit the timber. Chunky collects and breathes new life into waste woods, capturing and embracing the character to create truely one of a kind pieces. 

Using reclaimed timber, in addition to his zero waste policy means no piece of wood goes to waste. Every piece that enters the workshop leaves with a second life, right down to the scraps and offcuts which are turned into his signature "Nullarbor Beads".

Reducing the footprint, passing on the passion and creating pieces to last a lifetime are the key foundations of Chunky Timber Co.
